Becoming a CIS Volunteer is as easy as 1-2-3.
The FIRST STEP is registering with Guilford County Schools for a free background check at www.gcsvolunteers.com if you have a DMV# and Social Security#, if not we can discuss a supervised volunteer role.
SECOND STEP is to attend a volunteer orientation session. Contact the Director of Volunteers to organize an orientation session at your organization or 1-on-1. During the session volunteers select the school site, best day and time for volunteering, volunteer role and complete all the necessary volunteer paperwork.
THIRD STEP will be to visit and tour the school site selected, meet the CIS Site Coordinator and teacher/student you will be working with.

GrandPals Reading Together Tutor (2nd and 3rd grade Oct – May)
Jump Start Reading Tutor (3rd and 4thGrade Feb – May)
CIS Friend (Proctor tests, provide extra help at events or behind the scenes)
