We want to hear YOUR story.
Parents, Students, Alumni, Student Specialists, Administration, EVERYONE:
Your story matters. Every experience, every challenge, every triumph has the power to inspire, encourage, and remind someone that they’re not alone. Your voice could be the one someone needs to hear today. Share your story and help make space for others to be seen.
You are the only one who can decide what you would like to share with others
Impact Stories
What are Impact Stories?
Think about stories that you heard or read that changed you. Maybe it’s one of literature’s classics, or maybe it was a story you heard from a family member or mentor about how they overcame personal struggles. Think about what elements of that story still resonate with you today, then use those aspects to craft your own narrative that others will remember and be inspired by for their lifetime.
Why are they Important?
-
Storytelling can be an invaluable tool for self-discovery and self-awareness. Your story can help you build confidence, inspire others to support social justice initiatives, motivate and encourage people to tell their own truth, and imagine a future full of possibilities.
-
As a student or alumni, you have a powerful story to share about your lived experiences and explore your future aspirations. Your story can play an important role in supporting students and can truly change the way we operate as an organization.
-
What you write is up to you. Own your story. You can inspire someone else to share their truth and continue helping other students around the country to accomplish their dreams.

Community Wisdom Project (CWP):
The Community Wisdom Project is a CIS National project that has CIS affiliates, students, alumni, families, teachers, and admin tell their story (example: "When is a time that you needed support? Inside or outside of the classroom?") - These stories do not need to be CIS related.
The storytelling prompt is designed to gather information about the support students & families need, NOT to gather CIS testimonials or Impact Statements.
